Doctors Charter School of Miam Reviews

My son has been a part of DCS since 8th grade, he has major issues before coming to DCS. DCS acdemically, work through these issues. They did their jobs, TEACHING, DISCLIPINE, AND CARING. My son will graduate next year. Thanks to the determined and hard working teachers at DCS. The administration works hard to maintain the best for DCS Mr. Meredith, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Garber and now the new counselor Ms. Chairge. The TEACHERS are hard workers and they give their all. Everyone past and present at DCS has done their part to make this maintain DCS' 'A' rating and to keep DCS a top notch educational institution, keep up the good work DCS you are great! Thank you for caring and making my son a success!!

It has perfect academic classes. It has classes that my child loves. It allows her to pick her own classes for ellectives.

It is an excellent school with strong accademic course work. Like many public schools could have a better annual budget and better teacher salaries. Lacks an athletic field and gym equipment. There is only one professionall built combination basketball-Volleyball-tennis court. The school could have more support with the art department.

My child came to DCS from a tough, under-achieving school, having mastered looking like a thug and acting like he didn't care. He was accepted because his grades were acceptable but only as a result of his previous schools low standards. Not surprisingly, his transition was a difficult one. He was suddenly in a setting where high grades and good manners were cool. By the end of his first marking period it seemed sure that he would fail-out. Happily MS. Sullivan and his teachers saw the light he had hidden inside. They let us know that all wasn't lost and worked with him. Believe me he struggled but never under-estimate the power of caring tachers and staff to inspire your child. The 2nd marking period he just made his required GPA. The following year he made the honor role. When he graduates this year we will miss DCS.

A top notch scholastic enviroment. I've always felt that an organization's 'tone' and quality filter from the top down. This school is no exception. The principal, Mr. Gary Meredith, is very 'hands on'; so much so, I wouldn't be surprised to find out he lived at the school. He is very dedicated to his work and always strives for excellence--thereby setting an example which permeates the entire school. Mr. Meredith has an 'open door' policy for parents and is very receptive to their concerns. In short, he's a good guy.

Homework load exceeds the normal amount of time children should spend doing homework every night and weekends. Some teachers are well prepared and like teaching the students, others do not know how to teach nor are interested in teaching. The administration does not take the time to analyze when a parent presents a concern. The administration is not open minded and think they are right all the time. Lots of parents have concerns that they do not express because they are afraid of the consecuences.

Doctors Charter School is the best game in town. MAST has lowered it's standards and does not have the quality of students that you will find at Doctors. You can't beat the language arts department!

We are so thankful for such a wonderful school here in Miami Shores. My son has excelled in every area of his education. He loves the school and the teachers. Yes they are strict and have lots of rules but I think at this stage its good. The teachers are great. Ms Charles, Ms Tennison and Ms Martinez are excellent. Students are well behaved and very talented. Great School!

A preparatory academy in one of the best-kept secret neighborhoods in America, a true gem. Great kids, great staff, great parents, in an amazing area that you would never believe is in the middle of a major metropolis. Once you find Miami Shores, you never want to leave.

Very good acadamically, but policies are often unfair and too strict. Many teachers have left this year, but the others are great! the lunches and school activities do not seem to be met with much enthusiasm from anyone.

This School has many teachers and faculty that harass the students with threats of detentions and demerits for ridiculous reasons. They seem to prey on average and below average academic students instead of teaching and helping them so they can cleanse their school to keep their test scores up at the expense of the students.

Most of the teachers are very determined and intelligent. I came from Miami Shores Barry University Charter School and all of the teachers who came from there are excellent. Ms. Tennison, Ms. Charles, Ms. Sanders, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Mosher, Ms. Jadallah are all wonderful teachers. Though some of the rules and policies are too strict.

My Daughter went to msbu and is now in Doctors charter and I would have moved out of Dade county if she would have not got in. The school is excellent [ not perfect ] and her counselor Ms. Sullivan and her teachers Ms. Tennison, Mr Schultz, Mr Fernandez and Mr Reinman are by far the best in the system. Her middle school teachers were excellent and she has excelled beyond all my imagination because of the dedicated teachers and staff...Doctors is only in its second year and the extracurricular activities need work but over all its been a great experience for my daughter.

Ms Mosher and Ms Charles are two of the Doctors Charter school teachers who cannot be beat! This is a fantastic school and I think it will get better and better as the years go by. My child's first year middle school experience at this school went way above both of our expectations!

The information you have on this school is outdated. Your info, including the address and number of students is for the now defunct msbu (miami shores barry university charter school) this is now a fabulous new school in a new building with a new name. It is a middle/high school and will be the best school in Miami!
