North Miami Florida Shopping
The developer Gil Dezer's plan to transform the Intracoastal Mall went back to the North Miami City Commission on Tuesday, with commissioners voting to change the development plan for the project in a session that stretched for more than an hour and a half in front of a packed room of City Council members. A mixed-use development plan at the north end of the mall that would bring a mix of retail, office, residential and office space has received major permits from both the city of NorthMiami Beach and the city. In July, Dezer Development received a positive vote from the North Miami Beach Planning Committee for its proposal for an 11,000-square-foot shopping center at the corner of South Miami Avenue and North Main Street.
On the positive side, critics said that the mall offers ample parking, plenty of bargains and enough space to find what you're looking for in outlet clothing. They commented that they had seen changes for the better in the mall over the past three years. The negative comments ranged from the fact that there are too many empty shops and the escalators are not working, and that there has been no attempt to increase the number of retailers renting there.
